Evaluation of proposed route of new sludge transfer pipeline.
This trench exposed a compacted spread of sand and gravel containing plastic and other modern debris. This deposit was possibly hard standing laid down during the construction of the adjacent sewage works. Hand excavated sondages established that this layer was approximately 0.2m deep and lay above a pale blue silt clay.
