Civil Parish GREAT ELLINGHAM, BRECKLAND, NORFOLK

Map

May-September 2014.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with the Great Ellingham sewerage scheme.
The excavation of a drill pit at this location exposed two ditches of probable post-medieval date. One of these features contained brick fragments and both appeared to have been cut through a surviving soil layer. The presence of this soil layer indicates that these features survived in one of the areas where the construction of the modern road had resulted in much less truncation of the underlying deposits.
