A probable Bronze Age round barrow has been identified as an earthwork on the ground and is visible on lidar imagery from a survey flown in 2015 (S1). It is very likely that the earthwork still survives. It forms part of a probable small barrow cemetery (NHER 61502). Like most of the other barrows in the cemetery, the mound was first recorded and surveyed in 1973; see NHER 5649 (context 4, although there is some discrepancy in the grid references) and Historic England Archive record TL 88 NW 14 (S2). The feature visible on the lidar is the clearest and best defined of all the mounds in the cemetery, and corresponds most closely with the mound depicted on modern Ordnance Survey maps. Its morphology, topographical location and archaeological context make its interpretation as a round barrow highly likely. Traces of an external ditch and bank are visible surrounding the barrow on the lidar, but are not clear enough to be certain of their existence or significance.
This barrow was previously recorded as part of NHER 5649.
