Summary

Metal-detecting in 2016 recovered a Roman coin as well as Early Saxon to Middle Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Early Saxon brooches; a Early/Middle Saxon mount; a Middle Saxon to medieval gaming piece; a Middle/Late Saxon weight or gaming piece; a medieval harness pendant and inscribed annular brooch, and a medieval/post-medieval button.

Full Description

25-27 March 2016. Metal-detecting Rally. [1].
Medieval gold annular brooch with the inscription 'IESVICIY' or 'IESVICIR'. The inscription is likely in French and could be read as 'I am here R/Y', or 'Jesus Christ'. This object was submitted as possible Treasure (Ref: 2016 T487).
