Map

The earthworks of a possible enclosure of unknown, but possible medieval to post-medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3) and to a lesser extent on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data (S3). The site is possibly associated with the post-medieval extraction and industrial activity in this area, see NHER 17105 and NHER 32593.
The northern edge of this possible enclosure coincides with the edge of a large post-medieval extraction area (NHER 32593) and it is feasible that the enclosure bank actually represents a linear spread of upcast from the extraction. Although it is possible that they mound relates to the post-medieval extraction and industrial activity in this area, see NHER 17105.
The site of a possible barrow (NHER 61527), sits within the area of this earthwork enclosure although it most likely that the two sites are unrelated.
