Summary

The possible earthworks of a small circular mound of uncertain date and significance. The site is located next to a group of surviving round barrows (NHER 32594, NHER 33453, and NHER 33454), but this mound is considerably smaller and may be unrelated and potentially much later in date. However, see NHER 61498 for a nearby group of small mounds which have been suggested to represent round barrows.

Map

January 2016. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The possible earthworks of a small circular mound of uncertain date and significance are visible on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data (S1). The western edge would appear to be slightly overlain by a modern clearance bank and it is feasible that all of the feature relates to modern activity. The site is located next to a group of surviving round barrows (NHER 32594, NHER 33453, and NHER 33454), but this possible mound is considerably smaller, 9m across, and may be unrelated and potentially much later in date. However, see NHER 61498 for a nearby group of small mounds which have been suggested to represent round barrows.
