A linear quarry pit is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S1). Its date is unknown but a post-medieval origin is feasible. Lynford Swell Pit (NHER 5131), itself a post-medieval gravel pit, lies 35m to the southwest. It is possible that this feature was one of those noted by the recent 'Flint in the Brecks' survey (S2).
