Summary

A group of irregular ditches and banks, of unknown date, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. The features could in part represent trackways, or perhaps a curvilinear enclosure, but their origin is uncertain, and they could instead derive from fairly recent activity relating to forestry, the railway or perhaps military activity (see NHER 62117). Their character and appearance is similar to a group of ditches 100m to their south (NHER 54503), and it is possible they are contemporary or associated in some way. Imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 shows very uneven ground in this area, amidst which some of the features may still be visible as earthworks.
