Full Description
November 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Earthworks of uncertain date, origin and significance are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) and imagery from a 2015 lidar survey (S4), on an area of land between the Little Ouse River and the Norwich to Brandon railway line (NHER 13571). They may be of relatively recent origin; some could relate to changes to the course of the river, others to the construction and maintenance of the railway, while others could relate to drainage or agriculture. It is possible that some relate to the road(s) (NHER 5690) shown crossing this area on Santon tithe map. Some of the earthworks appear to still survive, while others may have been levelled. The features have not been mapped.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 23 November 2017.
