Summary

Metal-detecting between 2017 and 2019 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins and post-medieval tokens, including a 19th century one penny token, inscribed "Tunstead & Happing 1812" on the obverse and a wheatsheaf surrounded by "Payable at the corporation house" on the reverse; aswell as Roman, Early Saxon and medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman cosmetic pestle; an Early Saxon brooch; and medieval buckle, finger ring and harness pendant; and a post-medieval silver dress hook.

Early Saxon copper alloy bow brooch.
14 medieval coins, a buckle, copper alloy harness oendant, and a signet finger ring.
Post-medieval silver gilt dress hook.
6 post-medieval coins and 2 tokens.

The post-medieval silver gilt dress hook (Ref: 2017 T1113) was donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM 2018.120).

8 August 2019. Metal-detecting.
19th century one penny token, inscribed "Tunstead & Happing 1812" on the obverse and a wheatsheaf surrounded by "Payable at the corporation house" on the reverse (S1). This token was issued by the Tunstead and Happing Incorporation House of Industry, Workhouse Road, Smallburgh (NHER 8278) and could be used to buy goods locally. These coins were issued at a time when there was a shortage of copper coins nationally (S2).
