Summary

A rectilinear enclosure of unknown but probable post-medieval date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015. The enclosure is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 6-inch, but like other, similar enclosures recorded in the area, it is likely to be of post-medieval date and to be associated with warrening. It appears to overlie a second, smaller enclosure (NHER 62023), and an area of ridging with associated boundaries (NHER 62123). It also has a small circular enclosure or mound (NHER 61999) in its northern corner.

Map

A rectilinear enclosure of unknown but probable post-medieval date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) and imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S4). The enclosure is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 6-inch map (S5), although a path is shown following the orientation of its southeastern side. However, like other, similar enclosures recorded in the area, it is likely to be of post-medieval date and to be associated with warrening. It might perhaps have been used in the management of the rabbits, or for growing forage crops, for example. It appears to overlie a second, smaller enclosure (NHER 62023), and an area of ridging with associated boundaries (NHER 62123). It also has a small circular enclosure or mound (NHER 61999) in its northern corner.
