Full Description
March 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
An area of possible cropmarks of uncertain archaeological significance are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S5) adjacent to Hockwold Roman settlement. The aerial photographs did reveal some indistinct features, potentially of agricultural and/or geological origin, consequently no mapping was undertaken within the area of the site. However given the density of the Roman settlement to the south and known cropmark sites to the west (eg. NHER 29700) it is likely that further archaeological activity is present.
