Full Description
May-June 2012. Walkover Survey.
Archaeological Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey within Sir John's Belt (Compartments 5 and 7).
Two large depressions identified at this location are throught to be former extraction pits; one at TF 9023 4237 (Site 10) with a diameter of 50m and another at TF 9038 4235 (Site 11) that measures c.50m by 30m. A third large depression at TF 9011 4247 (Site 12) is possibly a remnant of a part-infilled pit but is thought to be more likely a natural feature.
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 19 September 2018.
