Map

November 2018. Casual Observation.
The initials 'W' and 'D', plus the broad arrow symbol are incised into bricks on the external west facing side of the corner of a boundary wall. The graffiti is undated but likely dates to the Second World War as 'WD' stands for War Department and the broad arrow was used to indicate property and equipment owned by the government. This may relate to Second World War military activity within Norwich Cathedral Close (See NHER 54349) and [1] suggests that this could be a patrol route marker as it is located close to the Norwich inner anti-tank stop line.
