At some time prior to April 1999 a large unfinished Palaeolithic flint handaxe was recovered at this location.

Found at [1] by [2]:
1 Palaeolithic unfinished flint handaxe. See drawing (S1).
Identified by P. Robins (NCM), see description in file [3].
Then this object was first recorded only a general 'Blackford Hall' provenance was known and it was therefore recorded under NHER 9890 (which details a number of other items know to have been recovered in this general area). It was however subsequently brought in by [4], who had been able to establish a reasonably accurate findspot.
