Full Description
December 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A small circular enclosure, of unknown but probable post-medieval date, is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S1). There is a small internal pit located against its southeastern side; this may be a modern feature. The enclosure is one of several similar enclosures mapped across this portion of Thetford Warren (NHER 54069; see NHER 61552 and 61553 350m and 305m to the northwest and southwest). Like other, similar enclosures mapped elsewhere in the wider landscape, and the many rectilinear enclosures of similar size that have also been mapped, it is likely that it relates to warrening. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the earthwork still survives.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 4 December 2018.
