Summary

This substantial two-storey brick factory building dates to the 19th century and was possibly part of the former Charles Burrell and Son's agricultural engineering works. A small bronze memorial panel on its front wall depicting a stream engine was the final work by Norwich artist John Moray-Smith (being unveiled a few months before his death in 1958).

Map

This substantial two-storey brick building was possibly once part of the former Charles Burrell and Son's agricultural engineering works. Unlike the early 19th-century factory building to the south-east it has not been listed and is probably of a later date. Now much altered and substantially extended to rear.

Features of interest include a small bronze memorial panel built into the front wall. This commemorates the roll out in 1856 of an agricultural stream engine with an early form of caterpillar track and is the work of the work-known Norwich artist John Moray-Smith. It was unveiled in July 1958 and was therefore almost certainly Moray-Smith's last work as he died several months later.
See (S1) for further information on this and Moray-Smith's other works in Norwich and beyond.
