NHER 62818 (Building record) - 12-18 Pilot Street

Pilot Street. Houses, awaiting demolition in 1974.

These houses have not been demolished but are being restored by the King's Lynn Preservation Trust.
Nos. 8-18 are of 19th century brick, with some good porch consols.

An inscribed date-stone on the north wall of No. 18 reads '?.?. Hart, 1876' which suggests this terrace of four houses dates from that time. To the rear of these houses was Hart's Yard, marked on late 19th century maps of the town. No. 12 appears to have been built as part of the same scheme, but is rendered and has a passageway in place of the front door, leading to the rear of the terrace. This may have provided access to Hart's Yard.
