Summary

The Buck Inn is a 17th-century brick and flint range, descending in stages of height towards the road. In the late 19th century this building was a coal merchants permises, and it is thought that there was a limekiln immediately to the north.

In the late 19th century this was a coal merchants premises.

Excerpt of current Listing Description:
"Public House. 17th century, altered 18th, 19th and 20th century. Brick and flint with pantiled roofs. Disposition of four distinct ranges stepping down from north. North range: two storeys and dormer attic in five bays...Gabled roof with two large gabled dormers...North gable wall on kneelers with tumbling. Rebuilt south external stack obscured by 18th-century addition of two bays: one storey and dormer attic...Gabled dormer in roof. Third extension of one storey...gabled roof. Fourth extension of one storey and gabled roof…"
