Full Description
This single storey carstone building, now in residential use, was once the tollhouse for the turnpike road leading from Lynn to Fakenham (S1). It has canted bay windows on either side of a central arched front door. The windows feature a parapet above with a semi-circular central feature. The door has well-shaped voussoirs of some carstone. This building is not visible on the Gaywood Tithe Map of 1838 (S2), but a Toll Bar is marked on the opposite side of the road. The buiding can be seen on the Ordnance Survey first edition surveyed and published in 1884.
A. Cattermole (King's Lynn UAD), 1 July 2019.
