Summary

These brick walls and wrought iron gates form a rectangular apron to the north of the almshouses (NHER 66620) on Gaywood Road. They were listed at Grade II in 1972.

Walls and gates surrounding area to north of almshouses on Gaywood Road (now NHER 66620), which occupy the site of the medieval hospital of St Mary Magdalen (NHER 11963).

1972. Listed Grade II.
Listing Description excerpt:
"Walls and gates enclosing wide rectangular apron north of almshouses. 17th century, rebuilt several times in places, lowered 1963 at entrance side (north). Square section piers in centre of north run carrying double wrought-iron gates. Wall ramped down from piers left and right. Walls return south from ends of front wall to meet corners of almshouse block.
