Summary

A possible mound, perhaps the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey. The earthwork is very small, however, and therefore its interpretation as a barrow is not certain. The feature visible on the lidar may not even represent an earthwork, but could instead be a response to a clump of vegetation that was impenetrable to the laser. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2015), it is probable that the earthwork (if that is what it is) still survives.

July 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A possible mound, perhaps the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey (S1). The earthwork is very small, however, and therefore neither its archaeological significance nor its interpretation as a barrow is certain. The feature visible on the lidar may not even represent an earthwork, but could instead be a response to a clump of vegetation that was impenetrable to the lidar. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2015), it is probable that the earthwork (if that is what it is) still survives. Other small barrows have been identified elsewhere in Breckland (NHER 61498, for example).
