Summary

This is the site of a jettied building which stood on St Nicholas' Street to the west of Bennett's Yard and which was depicted in a drawing of 1850. It was timber framed and probably dated to the late medieval period. Later photographs show a brick building at this location and it is unclear whether a brick façade was added to the extant structure, or whether the jettied building was demolished and replaced in the late 19th century.

Map

This is the site of a jettied building, shown on a drawing of around 1850, reproduced in (S1). The drawing shows the coving of an infilled jetty, suggesting this building was medieval. However, photographs taken in 1907 and 1972 show a brick building to the west of Bennett's Yard, and it is possible that a brick façade was added to the front of the building in the late 19th century, or that the building was demolished and replaced sometime after 1850.
See (S1) for further information.
This building was presumably demolished sometime after 1972.
