Map

May 2018. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed route of Lound to Gorleston Water Pipeline (Trenches 19-20).
The northernmost of the two trenches excavated at this location revealed a number of possible pits and two probable natural features. The possible pits were fairly unremarkable root-disturbed features that were of uncertain date, with finds limited to a small number of prehistoric worked flints and a single fragment of post-medieval clay pipe stem.
There was no trace of a feature associated with an east-to-west aligned cropmark recorded to the east of this trench (NHER 45200) and a similarly-aligned cropmark in this group that crossed the southern trench was also found to have no corresponding sub-surface feature.
Information from report uploaded to OASIS, HER copy awaited.
