Full Description
January 2020. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The undated ring ditch described below was previously recorded as part of NHER 29143.
An undated, possibly post medieval or modern, ring ditch and pit are visible as crop- and soilmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The ring ditch is very small, and although a number of possible Bronze Age round barrows have been identified in the area, its size suggests that it is not a barrow ditch. The pit to the southwest is almost the same size, and it is plausible that the two are contemporary. Similar features are also visible 230m to the south (NHER 63620), and 280m to the west (NHER 63616). The most likely interpretation for the features described here is as post medieval to modern agricultural and/or extraction features.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 20th January 2020.
