Summary

World War One memorial constructed from stone, in the form of a freestanding calvary cross. This memorial was erected to commemorate twenty-five local men who died in service during World War One. The memorial was Listed Grade II in November 2017.

Location: All Saints Churchyard, Newton Road, Hainford.
Type: Calvary Cross
Description: The memorial is constructed from stone, in the form of a freestanding calvary cross with canopy. It is used to commemorate twenty-five local servicemen who died during World War One. It has been described as sited “atop an octagonal shaft with a carved collar and square base. The shaft rises from a square plinth which is chamfered at the top and stands on a chamfered foot. The whole surmounts a wide, square stone base with moulded cap and chamfered foot” (S1). There is an inscription on the front/west face and names on the remaining faces in incised lettering.
