Before August 2017. Metal-detecting. [1].
Post-medieval silver thimble bearing the inscription: 'Work fine stich best of stiches'. The spelling mistake suggests this was a continental import. The item was submitted as possible Treasure (Ref: 2016 T942), but due to being found before 1996 could not be ascertained to be buried with the intention of recovery. It was subsequently returned to landowner.
Information from PAS import.
E. McDonald (HES), 3 August 2017.
