Summary

Metal-detecting between 2016 and 2022 recovered a 3rd-century Roman coin hoard comprising 117 silver and copper alloy radiates, the majority of which are in poor condition.

October 2016. Metal-detecting Rally. [1].
Roman coin hoard of 92 copper alloy and silver radiates and 1 unrelated Roman copper alloy coin (an as of Vespasian).
The radiates date to the period c. AD 258-279 and are mostly in extremely poor condition, with a number fused together or showing evidence of having been fused to another coin in the past. The legible coins consist of a mixture of legitimate issues and contemporary copies from the Central and Gallic empires and are mostly copper alloy, with only a small number of base silver or silver washed coins present. A small quantity of barbarous copies are also present.

This coin hoard was disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2016 T788) and returned to the finders.

October 2017. Metal-detecting Rally. [2].
6 Roman coins. These copper alloy radiates are the first addendum to the coin hoard recovered in October 2016, which now puts the total for the hoard at 98 coins. The coins do not alter the proposed date range for the hoard.

These coins were returned to the finders after being disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2017 T1204).

September 2019. Metal-detecting. [3].
4 Roman coins. These copper alloy coins (one with traces of silver wash) are the second addendum to the coin hoard recovered in October 2016, which now puts the total for the hoard at 102 coins. These leave the date of the last coin unchanged at AD 279.
