Summary

A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey undertaken in 2007 and subsequent metal-detecting between 2019 and 2020 recovered prehistoric worked flints (including Mesolithic/Early Neolithic blade cores); medieval and post-medieval pottery; post-medieval clay tobacco pipe and ceramic building material fragments; medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and tokens and a number of other, Roman, medieval to post-medieval and undated metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman military harness pendant; a Late Saxon/medieval openwork strap end; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories (including a gold mourning ring); a medieval harness pendant and weight; a medieval/post-medieval strainer or drainage filter and cloth seal; a post-medieval sword belt hanger and undatable lead waste.

September 2006. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Field 54).
Finds recovered included:
52 prehistoric worked flints (including several Late Mesolithic/Early Neolithic prepared blade cores).
15 ?prehistoric burnt flints.
1 medieval pottery sherd and 1 button.
1 post-medieval ?coin, 14 pottery sherds, 3 clay tobacco pipe fragments, 2 ceramic building material fragments and 1 tin/copper alloy button.
1 undatable lead ?weight/disc, 1 lead rod and 5 lead waste fragments.

4 medieval coins, a harness pendant and lead weight.
Medieval/post-medieval dress hook, rowel spur, lead strainer or drainage filter and lead cloth seal.
2 post-medieval coins, 2 tokens, 1 jetton, a probable sword-belt hanger and gold mourning ring.

The post-medieval gold finger ring was returned to the finder after being disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2020 T570).
