Map

1947. Casual Observation [1].
A mound of pot boilers.
Located at Context 2.
Information from record card (S1).
Also noted on Ordnance Survey record card (S2) and HER Record Card (S3)
Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 08 September 2023.

1979. Systematic Fieldwalking. G41 and G42.
The area of Context 2 was walked, but no evidence of the mound was observed.
However a concentration of pot boilers located on a slight hump was observed to the east, outside the cottages (Context 1).
The pot boiler spread measured approximately 40 east to west and at least 15m north to south. It was cut by a hedge to the north and the road rises over part of it.
This is presumed to be the same mound observed in 1947 and the location of the site has been updated accordingly.
The medieval pottery sherds recovered are now recorded under NHER 65054 [2].
Information from original field survey forms (S4).
A. Rogerson (NAU) 7 November 1983.
E. Rose (NAU) 3 July 1984.
