Summary

Banks, ditches and tracks of post medieval or earlier date are visible as earthworks, primarily on visualised lidar data but also on 1940s aerial photographs. They are located in the area of Mount Ephraim. Their date is not known, and it is likely that they represent boundaries and tracks relating to more than one phase of activity. Some conform to the pattern of land division depicted on 19th century maps, suggesting that they too are likely to be of late post medieval date. As the lidar was flown relatively recently (2015) it is probable that the earthworks still survive.

Banks, ditches and tracks of post medieval or earlier date are visible as earthworks, primarily on visualised lidar data (S1) but also on 1940s aerial photographs (S2-S3). They are located in the area of Mount Ephraim. Their date is not known, and it is likely that they represent boundaries and tracks relating to more than one phase of activity. Some conform to the pattern of land division depicted on 19th century maps (such as the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map, S2), suggesting that they too are likely to be of late post medieval date. As the lidar was flown relatively recently (2015) it is probable that the earthworks still survive. There could be further earthworks in this area, but they were not clear enough to map from the consulted sources. See too NHER 62100 for features recorded (but not mapped) in the southern part of this area by Stage 1 of the project.
