Summary

A curved moat was noted here in 1969. A site visit in 1976 showed it had become a curved carr but the owners of the nearby Manor House stated it was a moat. It is unclear whether this feature is a medieval moat or not, as the Ordnance Survey records it as a drainage channel.

The curvilinear drainage channel or moat described above, together with its external bank, are visible as earthworks on visualised lidar data (S1). Its appearance more resembles a drainage channel, rather than a medieval moat. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthworks still survive.
