Summary

Two prehistoric core tools were recovered in this field during harvesting in 1967. One was identified as a Neolithic part-polished adze and the other as a ?unfinished axehead. It has been suggested that the latter may actually be a Palaeolithic handaxe.

Full Description

Autumn 1967. Stray Find.
Found while lifting carrots (then placed in farm road):
1 Neolithic chipped flint adze (cutting edge slightly polished).
1 ?Neolithic flint axe (?unfinished).
Information from (S1).
Both objects were donated to the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1967.200). The object initially recorded as a ?unfinished axehead was subsequently identified by P. Robins (NCM) as a potentially Palaeolithic implement.
