Summary

An archaeological evaluation of this site carried out between 2017 and 2020 revealed no evidence for archaeologically-significant remains. An initial geophysical survey identified no anomalies of possible archaeological interest and subsequent trial trenching had similarly negative results, with no features recorded and no finds recovered.

Magnetometer survey of proposed route of A140 Long Stratton Bypass.
This survey revealed no responses of obvious archaeological significance.
A number of discrete magnetic spikes are likely to have been caused by ferrous objects in the topsoil – most likely modern debris.

August-November 2020. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed route of A140 Long Stratton Bypass (Trenches 19-23).
The five trenches excavated at this location revealed no archaeologically significant features or deposits.
No finds were recovered.
