Summary

A watching brief maintained during the construction of a temporary contractor's compound at this site in 2011/2012 recorded no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. A small number of finds were recovered from the topsoil, including prehistoric worked flints, single sherds of Roman and post-medieval pottery, a medieval/post-medieval book clasp and fragments of post-medieval pantile.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of contractor’s compound.
The stripping of topsoil and subsoil deposits exposed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
A small number of finds were recovered from the topsoil, including:
8 Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flakes.
1 Early Bronze Age flint thumbnail scraper.
1 Bronze Age/Iron Age flint side scraper.
1 Roman pottery sherd.
1 medieval/post-medieval book clasp.
1 post-medieval pottery sherd and 4 pantile fragments.
