Summary

This gravel pit was worked during the end of the 19th century, when Roman buildings were reported to have been seen and tesserae were found in extracted gravel. These reports are thought to be unlikely.

'Tesserae' were found in gravel from this pit in making path at Abbot's Hall, Burgh - next -Aylsham.
