Summary

A watching brief maintained during groundworks at this site in 2012 recorded no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. Conditions were however far from ideal, with concrete having to be poured as soon as a foundation trench was excavated. A small number of Roman and medieval pottery sherds were recovered from the spoil.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of orangery adjacent to Cobham House.
No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were recorded, although it should be noted that conditions were poor, with soft ground meaning that concrete had to be poured immediately in order to minimise collapse.
