Summary

This flint and brick wall surrounding the forecourt of The Vicarage (NHER 15862) probably dates to the early 19th century. Within the southern section are two gault brick gate piers that enclose a reused wave-moulded stone arch. It has been suggested that this is a late Norman or Transitional arch, and therefore potentially from the abbey ruins. Sections of the wall are explicitly included in the separate listing designations for The Vicarage and the detached stables to the north-east (NHER 65171) - both of which are listed Grade II.
