Full Description
July 2015. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of western half of site.
The three trenches excavated revealed an undated possible quarry pit and two features interpreted as probable tree-throw hollows.
No finds were recovered.
It is noted that a degree of truncation may have been caused by the construction and demolition of the school buildings that previously occupied this site. However, apart from modern services it appears that the site was relatively undisturbed, with a reasonably thick subsoil recorded in all three trenches.
Information from report uploaded to OASIS. HER copy awaited.
