Summary

A field system, possibly of prehistoric or Roman date, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. It may incorporate one or more enclosures. The orientation of the field system is at odds with the modern field pattern, suggesting a relatively early date. Like other field systems recorded in the area (such as NHER 6096 to the south) a Roman – or Late Iron Age to Roman – date seems plausible.

January 2022. Broads Hidden Heritage: Aerial Perspectives.
A field system, possibly of prehistoric or Roman date, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1). It may incorporate one or more enclosures; there appears to be a possibly double-ditched rectilinear enclosure in the southwestern part of the site (around TG 3966 0804). The orientation of the field system is at odds with the modern field pattern, suggesting a relatively early date. Like other field systems recorded in the area (such as NHER 6096 approximately 1km to the south) a Roman – or Late Iron Age to Roman – date seems plausible.
