Full Description
September 2013-April 2014. Watching Brief.
Maintained during construction of five new dwellings.
Despite the relatively extensive nature of the monitored groundworks only a single undated ditch was observed. This feature appeared to be perpendicular to Braddock Road and therefore on the same alignment as extant modern boundaries, suggesting it was unlikely to be of great antiquity.
A prehistoric flint flake and single sherds of Roman and medieval/post-medieval pottery were recovered from the relatively deep subsoil that was present across the site. It is possible that this deposit had masked archaeological remains in some of the excavated trenches.
See report (S1) for further details.
