Excavations for new road at Wayford Bridge; visited by E. Rose (NAU) and P. Lawrance (NCM) 14 January 1976.
Peat very watery and running back as soon as dredged.
Foreman (reliable) has found nothing except posts of willow, said by P. Lawrance to be modern.
Peat depth average 6m (20 feet) (as recorded by R. R. Clarke on other side of river 16 May 1937, valley flat bottomed).
Peat samples taken.
