Summary

This painted cast lead statue of Charity stands in the courtyard of the Fishermen's Hospital (NHER 4296). It probably dates to 1702 and was repaired in 1960 and then restored by English Heritage in 1987.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Statue of Charity. Probably 1702. Repaired 1960. Restored by English Heritage 1987. Painted cast lead. Brick plinth of 1987. The sculpture is of a nearly life-size female figure of Charity dressed in drapery carrying an infant in her right arm and shielding a child standing by her left leg."
