Summary

This road bridge was constructed in the mid 19th century, following the completion of the main hospital buildings to the south (NHER 9693). It is in the same style as the hospital and its associated chapel (NHER 65667), being made of yellow brick with ashlar dressings. It consists of a single elliptical arch with rusticated piers.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Road bridge. Dated 1856. By John Brown, county surveyor. Yellow brick with ashlar dressings. Single elliptical arch with rusticated piers, impost band and keystone with date. On each side, rusticated pilasters carrying piers with chamfered caps. Dentillated string course, panelled parapet with chamfered coping."
