Summary

Metal-detecting at this location in 2021 recovered a medieval pottery sherd; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and a number of other metal objects, including a Late Saxon/medieval lead spindle whorl; medieval and post-medieval dress accessories (including part of a medieval silver finger ring); a medieval thimble, harness pendant and lead pot mends; a medieval/post-medieval drawn wire pin, copper alloy vessel legs and lead weights (including steelyard weight) and post-medieval crotal bells, a harness mount, rowel spur and possible razor.

Full Description

August-September 2021. Metal-detecting. [1].
1 Roman coin.
Late Saxon/medieval lead spindle whorl.
1 medieval coin, 1 pottery sherd, a buckle, thimble, harness pendant, silver bezel from finger ring and lead pot mends.
Medieval/post-medieval drawn wire pin, copper alloy vessel legs and lead weights (including steelyard weight).
5 post-medieval coins, 1 jetton, buckles, crotal bells, a button, strap slide, harness mount, rowel spur and possible razor.

The medieval silver finger ring fragment was returned to the finder after being disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2022 T559).
