Building visited and photographed following oral history research.
A well preserved example of a World War Two Home Guard store used to store ammunition, explosives and inflammables. The rectangular building is constructed of brick with a reinforced concrete roof. There is an entranceway in the centre of the eastern wall, plus a small aperture at roof height on either side of the doorway. No door remains. In the western wall there are two glazed rectangular windows at roof height.
The building is currently, or has in the recent past, been used as an animal shelter.
[1] states that this store was the secondary and back-up store to the similar example sited in Fincham at [2], recorded under NHER 31142.
Other examples elsewhere in Norfolk are recorded under NHER 30780 and NHER 32390.
See photographs (S1) and correspondence (S2).
