Summary

Metal-detecting at this location in 2021 and 2025 recovered Roman pottery sherds; Late Iron Age (Roman issue), Roman and medieval coins; a medieval jetton and a number of other, undated and Late Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal objects include an undatable fragment of gold sheet or foil; a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead fragment; a potentially Iron Age or Roman unidentified copper alloy object; Roman mounts, bracelet fragments, tweezers, a brooch, enamelled finger ring, enamelled belt or strap mount, rotary key, figurine or mount in shape of cockerel, possible steelyard balance arm, copper alloy Byzantine weight and lead steelyard weight; a Roman/Early Saxon bracelet fragment; Early Saxon brooches; a Late Saxon/medieval lead spindle whorl; medieval buckles, a copper alloy steelyard weight with iron core and lead weight; a medieval/post-medieval pin and a post-medieval crotal bell, pastry jigger and fob seal.
