Full Description
September 2016-September 2017. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of new residential dwelling in southern half of site.
The various excavations revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
It should though be noted that most of the monitored groundworks did not penetrate beneath the subsoil present. A natural clay deposit was exposed at the base of the deeper excavations, which was overlain by a dark peat layer. This peat layer was between 0.1 and 0.3m thick and sealed by a sandy deposit that was also though to be of natural origin.
No finds were recovered.
Information from report uploaded to OASIS. HER copy awaited.

The various excavations revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits.
A compact natural sand and gravel deposit was exposed beneath the subsoil, with no sign of the peat layer previously recorded to the south.
No finds were recovered.
