Full Description
February-March 2017. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on possible route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (GS10). This site was one of 26 identified as a priority for examination due to their archaeological potential.
This survey of the southernmost part of the site identified no potentially archaeologically-significant responses. Although a number of linear anomalies were recorded these are likely to be the result of recent agricultural activity.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 19 July 2023.
May 2018. Desk-based Assessment.
Environmental Impact Assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm on the historic environment. This study incorporated the results of an initial walkover survey and the first phases of geophysical survey.
See relevant chapter of Environmental Statement and associated appendices for further detail (S1).
P. Watkins (HES), 19 July 2023.
November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (Area 33).
This survey of the remainder of the site identified an east-to-west aligned linear anomaly that may represent a ditch associated with a former field boundary.
Several irregular, curvilinear anomalies and a single discrete anomaly are regarded as being of undetermined origin and may therefore represent archaeologically-significant remains, although a natural origin is also possible.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 19 July 2023.
February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P1TT10; Trenches 58-59 and 83-90).
The 10 trenches excavated at this location revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. The linear anomaly recorded by the 2021/2022 geophysical survey was found to have no associated sub-surface remains.
No finds were recovered.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 19 July 2023.
