November 2021-March 2022. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (Area 57).
This survey revealed nothing of likely archaeological interest. Although a number of weak linear anomalies were recorded their irregular nature suggests they are of likely natural origin.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 20 March 2025.

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable (P2TT69; Trenches 661-665).
The five trenches excavated at this location revealed two ditches, one aligned north-east to south-west and the other north-west to south-east. The former produced a small number of Neolithic worked flints, along with fragments of animal bone and pieces of fired clay. A sample from its fill produced a small number of carbonised cereal grains and legumes. A sample from the second ditch produced only a single carbonised wheat grain. No finds were recovered from this feature.
Two adjacent pits were also recorded, one of which also produced a small number of Neolithic worked flints.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 20 March 2025.
